Radiological Protection and Radioactive Waste Management Services

We have a unique understanding of radiological protection and radioactive waste management issues and are able to provide our customers with expert advice and practical support through both the project development and delivery phases. Our team has worked with the majority of radionuclides and can provide a range of services that cover every stage of the decommissioning project life cycle. These include RPA consultancy, the provision of RPS and health physics support, and the preparation and management of documentation such as dose assessments, radiological risk assessments and BAT assessments.

Rekit and Refurbishment

We offer a diverse range of rekit and refurbishment services, working closely with our clients to deliver projects safely and with minimal disruption to stakeholders. Our SQEP team can deliver M&E and EC&I projects of all sizes and complexities, ensuring the exact client specifications and quality requirements are met. Our extensive range of capabilities includes mechanical installation, pipework, HVAC, compressed gas, plant, machinery, tooling, gloveboxes and electrical services.

Installation, Testing and Commissioning Services

We have been delivering site-based services to the nuclear industry for almost 40 years. With extensive experience of installing, testing, commissioning and operating a wide range of plant and equipment, ranging from waste retrieval systems to grout and concrete plants, our teams have worked at the majority of nuclear licensed sites in the UK. Complemented by our extensive design and build experience, we can provide complete cradle-to-grave solutions to our clients.


For over 35 years, our primary aim has been to support our clients with the safe decommissioning of their facilities, focusing on the waste hierarchy to ensure waste is minimised and sentenced accordingly. Through this waste-led decommissioning approach, we offer a complete range of services that span the full life cycle of any nuclear decommissioning project. Our SQEP teams are able to drive all aspects of the decommissioning process, from developing the initial concept and generating robust documentation packages to hands-on operations in conditions ranging from C0 to C5.

Land Remediation

We have successfully delivered land remediation projects of various sizes and complexities, ensuring the highest standards of safety while also engaging support and understanding from wider stakeholders. With services ranging from strategy development and sampling assessment to ground investigations and waste sentencing, we have both the technical knowledge and practical experience to efficiently complete the remediation and packaging of contaminated land for onward disposal. These projects are often delivered with support from our in-house radiological and waste experts, together with specialist subcontract support from our supply chain partners.

Nuclear Support Framework

NSG is currently delivering a framework contract which comprises rekit, refurbishment and safety fixes across four nuclear facilities at an MOD site. The work scope covers the full project life cycle from design through to implementation and handover.

PCM Decommissioning and Demolition

Working as an integrated team with LLWR and partners, NSG is responsible for the decommissioning and demolition of legacy plutonium contaminated material facilities on the site. Tasks include strategy development, methodology development, surveying, waste management, decommissioning and demolition.
