NSG Supports NNA Virtual Work Experience Programme

In collaboration with the Northern Nuclear Alliance (NNA), NSG is supporting a virtual work experience programme for ten University Technical College (UTC) Warrington students. The programme comprises a series of sessions on the nuclear industry, apprenticeships, career development and CV writing. In addition, the students are working as a collaborative team to design a system to retrieve sludge from the bottom of a pond at Sellafield. Reflecting the recent trend in the nuclear industry and the workplace as a whole, the students have been attending by logging in remotely where possible and from the classroom. Along with Cavendish Nuclear, Assystem, Atkins and Sellafield, NSG recently delivered one of the programme’s masterclass sessions, which focused on radioactive sludge retrieval equipment. Although the programme is still ongoing, early feedback from the NSG masterclass was that it was “incredibly informative” and it helped the students understand what technologies are available.
