NSG Awarded Multi-Million Pound Magnox Contract

NSG Environmental Ltd has been awarded a multi-million pound contract by Magnox Ltd to design and supply cement and polymer encapsulation plants for three of its nuclear licensed sites: Berkeley, Hinkley Point A and Chapelcross.

The contract, formally known as Modular Intermediate Level Waste Encapsulation Plant (MILWEP), forms a major part of Magnox’s waste management strategy to safely and cost-effectively treat their legacy intermediate level waste. Modular encapsulation is a key element of Cavendish Fluor Partnership’s strategy to ensure effective and efficient management of the Magnox sites’ decommissioning legacy.

The contract is a continuation of earlier work with Magnox, in which NSG developed the concept design for the plant. NSG is delighted to have been trusted by Magnox to continue with the delivery of the MILWEP programme and will continue to work closely with its key suppliers — NIS Ltd, AECOM, Amtri Veritas and Areva RMC — to deliver the full scope of the design and build contract.
