Daniel’s Dream Placement at NSG
Earlier this month, NSG welcomed A-level student and aspiring project manager Daniel Goodfellow from Cockermouth School as part of the Centre for Leadership Performance’s Dream Placement programme.
During his Placement Week, Daniel spent his first day at NSG’s head office in Chorley, where he interviewed NSG’s managing director Jim Porter and learned about project management. For the rest of the week, Daniel was based at the Low Level Waste Repository in West Cumbria and shadowed members of the NSG site team. Whilst there, Daniel attended project meetings; chatted with engineers, project managers and planners to gain an insight into the different office-based roles; supported the project team with data collection and other project tasks; and received a bespoke tour of the site to witness operations first hand.
Lesley Wood, HR Officer and Dream Placement representative for NSG, commented:
We thoroughly enjoyed hosting Daniel for the week and hope he found the experience both interesting and informative. There are lots of exciting career opportunities available in the nuclear industry and the Dream Placement programme provides young people like Daniel with a rare opportunity to experience them first hand.
Daniel’s Dream Placement will conclude at the Showcase Event at Energus in late March, where he, Lesley and the rest of the participating students and company representatives will get back together to discuss their Dream Placement experiences.
