Bright Stars Awarded Best Business Plan

We are delighted to announce that our partner school has won the award for Best Business/Campaign Plan in this year’s Bright Stars competition, an exciting eight-week programme designed to introduce children in primary schools across Cumbria to leadership, entrepreneurship and the world of business.

For their project, the students from Victoria Junior School converted a derelict space in Workington into a practical allotment for the school and local community. The students and their teacher were formally recognised for their efforts at the Bright Stars Celebration Event last week. As part of their project, the students produced a short video about their allotment and why they wanted to make a difference in their local community. Although this year’s students will be progressing to secondary school in the coming months, the school intends to keep the allotment going and encourage its younger students to get involved.

James Rudd, Business Development Manager at NSG, commented:

It has been a real pleasure to work with Victoria Junior School this year. The students and their teacher, Mrs Walton, brought lots of energy and enthusiasm to the programme and really wanted to make a difference. I would like to wish the students all the best in their future endeavours and I look forward to supporting Victoria Junior School again.
