The Role

The Digital Support Apprentice will provide general IT helpdesk support, set up new users and equipment, and back up maintenance and asset records. This role incorporates study and completion of a Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship whilst working in the Business Support department with support from a dedicated mentor.

Qualifications and Skills

  • GCSE/Level 2 qualifications in appropriate subjects, including English, Maths and IT.
  • Level 2 BTEC in IT (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Passion for IT and computers.
  • Polite, friendly approach to work.

Quantity Surveyor

The Role

The Quantity Surveyor will conduct contract management activities on projects and frameworks by undertaking pre- and post-contract quantity surveying services, including project cost management, NEC3 and NEC4 contract administration and reporting, to ensure effective and timely delivery of project objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A relevant university degree or professional accreditation from the Royal Institute for Chartered Surveyors.
  • Experienced with working under NEC3 and NEC4 ECC, TSC and PSC contracts using options A, C and E.

Document Controller

The Role

The Project Manager will deliver the scope of decommissioning projects to the agreed time, cost and quality. Reporting to the NSG Decommissioning Programme Manager, the Project Manager will also be responsible for updating and maintaining the forecast, programme and change register throughout the characterisation, design, procurement, implementation and commissioning phases of decommissioning projects. The role also involves direct supervision of NSG decommissioning personnel and subcontractors.

Waste Officer

The Role

The main responsibilities of the Waste Officer will be:

  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, achieving and maintaining optimal levels of protection for the environment and the population, and controlling the disposal of radioactive, controlled and hazardous wastes.
  • Understand the key requirements of the client’s environmental permit conditions to ensure breaches are avoided.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of relevant statutes and statutory instruments appropriate for the project.
  • Understand the project deliverables relating to waste production and disposal, and liaise with relevant stakeholders.
  • Understand the Best Available Techniques (BAT) requirements for the project.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of radiological instruments, particularly their use and limitations appropriate for the type of radioactive waste.
  • Understand the assay sampling methodologies relevant to the waste type and implement the practical application of the methodology.
  • Understand the waste sampling and disposal options, waste classifications and container types available for use on the project.
  • Produce waste processes appropriate for the segregation, sentencing, packaging and subsequent disposal of all waste types.
  • Train the project team in the waste process requirements.
  • Procure and maintain a sufficient number of waste containers for the project where directed.
  • Produce and maintain QA records for all waste containers or items as appropriate.
  • Review and record assay data provided by the project team to allow the correct sentencing and packaging of waste.
  • Produce or assist in the production of Waste Load Plans, Waste Enquiry Notes and Waste Consignment Information.

Qualifications and Skills
