NSG Environmental Ltd
NSG was originally formed in 1982 through a joint venture, Wimpey - Gilbert to service the nuclear decommissioning market. In 1985 the Wimpey Gilbert name changed to Nuclear Services Group although the main share holders remained as Wimpey and Gilbert with the addition of Birds Commercial Metals Ltd. As the business grew to encompass land remediation, the company became NSG Environmental Ltd in 1990. During this period they also developed strong ties with CEGB and Nuclear Electric and had become more and more involved with waste management development programmes. NSG operated from two sites in Slough and Bolton. In the early nineties the Company was put up for sale as the owners returned to their core business. As NSG had a number of key development contracts and was seen as key player in nuclear decommissioning the company was bought by the NIS Group, who themselves had a long history in the nuclear market. The Slough office had closed at this stage.

NSG moved from their premises in Bolton to a facility on the former Leyland truck site with a total of twelve staff. During the next ten years or so, the Company expanded its business and secured significant contracts with AWE and Magnox Electric, to establish itself as a leading company within nuclear waste management and decommissioning. By 2006 it had outgrown its premises in Leyland and moved to its new premises at Scientia House, Chorley in 2007 where NSG now employs over 120 staff.
